Committee Reports – Architectural/Design Review – Ron Fitzpatrick
Carmela Homeowners are continuing to make improvements to paint and trim on their homes. Ron indicated that anyone requesting or considering changing the major home color; need to review any changes with the Architectural/Design Review Committee. Contact Ron directly: 760-393-2919
Ron indicated that Rancho Santana responded in a negative fashion to Carmela HOA request to replace trees along the backside of their property adjoining Carmela’s properties are still causing problems with droppings of seeds, leaves, and blossoms into Carmela yards, pools, and spas.
We sent a letter be drafted from Carmela HOA to the Rancho Santana HOA – Board to replace these trees with either Palm trees or other varieties of trees that will reduce/eliminate the problem. Rancho Santana is not supporting our requests.
Kathleen Fitzpatrick reminded us that anyone draining their pools/spas must insure that the pool maintenance companies drain the pools/spas into the sewer drains and NOT INTO THE STREETS. The street drains go directly to the PARK/CATCH BASIN. This procedure is NOT allowed by the HOA or the City of La Quinta.
Committee Reports – Landscape – Isabel & Jerry Zamora
Isabel and Jerry reported that they are engaged in continuing dialog with our new landscaping company, Leon’s Landscaping and Tree Service – A Premiere Landscaping Company.
Leon’s Landscaping and Tree Service is a family owned company made-up of certified arborists and highly skilled and experienced employees. We have been performing our services for over 18 years in the Coachella Valley and serve the surrounding areas including Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, La Quinta, Palm Springs, Indio, and Thousand Palms.
Isabel and Jerry are going to challenge Leon’s to adhere to the contract and monitor compliance from the beginning – to insure we receive consistent service.
Isabel and Jerry requested approval to add “color” to our main entrance in the form of flowers in the median to our Monroe entrance.
Carmela Gate Proposal:
After a long discussion, it was decided that the Gate Committee would request two or three bids for design/repair of our Monroe entrance gates. This would not be a total re-design and re-build of our main gates. It will be a modification and fix for the existing 4 gates at the Monroe entrance. This is required to reduce the damage from wind events. We are looking at ~ $11,000 – $14,000 to complete this project. Nothing will be done to the 53rd gate entrance. Village Properties indicated that when the open property is sold; the new owner would most likely change all of the gates at both the Monroe and 53rd entrance. We should not make major re-designs on our gates at this time. The discussion is now closed and we are proceeding with completion of the “fix” for our front gates on Monroe.
Dog Owner’s Not Picking Up After Their Animals:
There is a tremendous amount of anger over a few homeowners that are not accepting responsibility for picking up after their dogs. Carmela homeowners plan to confront anyone they find not doing their job. If you are guilty; expect an unpleasant response from everyone at Carmela. The mess on homeowner’s lawns and in the community park is disgusting and excusable! We will not tolerate continued non-compliance by anyone. We are not able to enjoy our shared property and park. We really wonder what is wrong with some individuals that live in our Carmela community? How inconsiderate and vial these actions are!
